November of last year, I decided to incorporate home school into our life. At our house, we call it school, so that is how I will refer to it on here! My son fell in love with school. He absolutely loves doing the crafts, using a pencil, and worksheets. When he wakes up in the morning, he automatically asks for school. So after our nice long summer break, we are back into the swing of things.

This time around I have decided to create a more structured school. Last year, I let workbooks dictate what I was doing. I needed to change that. So now, there will be themes for every week, some may even extend over two weeks, depending on variables. Such as subject matter, holidays and family vacations.

Planning-

Thank goodness for goggle and pinterest(mostly pinterest). They have been so helpful in all the planning that I have done. I actually have organized all my pins into theme areas and subjects; for example: “Pre-k theme summer” & “Pre-k Math”. This has helped make it so easy for me to look at all the ideas (I have like a million per-subject) and determining which I would like to do.

After the organization, I went to creating a schedule for myself and the kids. This way not only will school get done, but daily tasks too.

Then I sat down and listed all the weeks of the year and choose themes. I followed and added my own themes to lists that I have found on the interweb.

Finally, I started using the pins that I sorted and organized to write lesson plans. Now, it’s not lesson plans that I wrote for my 2nd and 4th graders when I was teaching.

Here is what I do:

  • Subject (Math, phonics, writing..etc)
  • Day of the week
  • Title of activity

I think that I am also going to try an learn/teach a second language to my children. German. I am in the process of saving up for Rosetta stone and I have begun finding worksheets/activities to help teach the kids. I am excited!

Last step for all this planning is executing them!

Please stay tuned for all my weekly themes and activities. Thanks for reading!

*Note* I will always give credit to other sites where I have found my activities and if I make it up, I will let you know!
