Our mornings here, were getting a bit messy…Sleeping in to late, not having a schedule. I kind of felt like I was losing myself. I decided to give my son and myself a routine. The best way I knew how to do that was “school.” I was an elementary school teacher, so I was familiar with what was expected. Also, I had a lot of the supplies already! It has been a nice journey to take with my son.
Each week we cover a number, a letter, a color and a shape!
I found Pre-k activity books. Some of the activities are too old for him, so I modify them. If there is writing or drawing lines, I do most of that. In the last few weeks he has begun coloring and circling the correct answers. It’s amazing seeing how much he’s grown, learned and developed since we began in September.
Below are pictures of what we do:
Busy day today! Q is for Queen, number 14, ice painting prints, and a watercolor painting! Since he is becoming more independent with markers and tools, we are finally going to begin artsy projects instead of just pointing and talking… I hope! Also, the finished products!
Number recognition, circling and coloring independently, counting, color review.
R is for rainbow, coloring, shape and color sorting using flash cards, counting, painting the rainbow. He is coloring and circling much better. He’s becoming so more independent with school! He loves school! I’m so glad I get to do this with him!
S is for Snake, green and yellow review, counting to 16, and colors sorting flash cards.
T is for Tree, sorting, learning the game of memory, and coloring.
The letter U is for Umbrella (I asked him: what does a umbrella prevent you from becoming- used those words exactly- he answers WET… He’s a genius😜), counting(not pictured), and a game of memory!
Salt painting! Easter Art! Naming colors and line shapes.
Starting the scientific method! His hypothesis was that the cold water glass would make the peep disappear/dissolve. Thru the test and observation he changed it to the hot water. (Second row(l-r) hot, cold, warm).
Yesterday we salt painted! It was a blast! They had to dry for 24 hours! So here they are! They came out great!
Spring has Sprung handprint craft, V is for Volcano, geometry- changing a circle to a square, number 18 and counting with Reese’s pieces (not pictured).
We read “A Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and then created our own caterpillar and beautiful butterfly and a few flowers! Then we colored black and brown, and Ethan said he wanted to write his name. So, we did! Pretty good for his first tries!
W is for watermelon, counting, tracing
Today-tracing, patterns, sorting, number flash cards, coloring.
School time! Patterns, color sorting, coloring, tracing and beginning letter sounds! So happy… He asked for school today!
Totally forgot to take in action school shots! We did- what’s the same?, smaller, bigger, long, short, a maze, tracing and beginning letter sounds, lastly we did flash cards. #homeschoolprek #hessosmart #heissosmart #helovesschool
School from yesterday! Iding letters(I’d hold a flash card he points to matching letter), what belongs, following clues to find answer, colors, and mazes.
Forgot action shots today… Finger painting the Abc’s(traced), matched letters with stickers, did some sheets on seasons, colors, and what’s alive.
